Today, Mestek, is a family of over 30 specialty manufacturers providing heating, ventilating, and air conditioning products, coil handling equipment and computer information systems and services.
Scope of Position:
Oversees all sales functions for the franchise and manage the sales representative network, as well as regional sales managers
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
List what the person must do to perform the job to meet standards
· Is responsible for day-to-day communications with the Representative Network, distributors, engineers, and contractors.
· Sales bulletins, product information and the Mestek Sales Assistant web-site
· Effectively communicates market and product needs to the marketing and management team
· Controls pricing, gross margins, and spending within each market
· Works with the marketing management team in selecting and developing and effective sales representative force
· Works with the representatives in implementing the marketing plans/programs and recommend adjustments or modifications to those plans as necessary to suit
existing marketing conditions
· Works with the representatives on improving their effectiveness through product training, sales presentation, sales meetings, etc
· Travels with representatives to make sales calls on consulting engineers, design-build contractors, mechanical contractors, and HVAC / Wholesale distributors
· Obtains product knowledge to be able to handle product questions and product presentations
· Establishes relationships with various buying influences, engineers and contractors
· Selects, develop and motivates the most effective sales people in each territory
· Becomes highly knowledgeable and experienced on the following;
o The competition, sales representatives, market trends and customers for the products within the Business Unit
· Knows the value of working with engineers and contractors and pulling sales through Wholesale distribution
· Performs other similar or related duties as required or requested
Position Requirements:
The National Sales Manager must possess the minimum knowledge listed below:
· College degree in engineering preferred but will consider business degree with technical sales experience
· Minimum 5 years experience in a managerial position in sales or marketing in HVAC industry (8-10 years total experience)
· Must have organizational skills and be detail oriented
· Ability to use computer software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook
· Must be ambitious and able to get along with others
· Ability to function under pressure and prioritize
· Must understand Company policies
· Must be willing to travel nationally up to 50% of the time to include trade show events, including assisting with setting up and taking down shows
